Summer ’11, let’s make it last forever

The official beginning of the end has to (obviously) have a  beginning. For me, it's going to be in the next 6 days, when the final bell will ring, the annoying underclassmen with shout, the seniors will cry, and the scribbling of pens against glossy yearbook pages will happen: the last day of school. From that time on, at 11:30 am on June 17th 2011, I will be a senior. Its a fact that I honestly thought would never happen. I just thought I'd stay a little freshman forever, getting by school and through my classes slowly and happily. Now, however, everything changes. Friends leave for the summer vacation, some to places they dream of living in during their stay at college, others just off to different places to get away from the past 10 months have dragged them on a tedious journey.

Me? I'm staying home, taking it easy and spending quality time with my little sister, every weekday from 8-5 each day. I know it wont be that bad, I'll have work to do in the mean time. Along with the freedom of summer comes the work for AP English class, that requires 3 books read and 3 papers written. I know, though, that even though not all aspects of my summer will be filled with interesting adventures or wonderous excursions, it will be my most memorable. It's the last summer that I can really feel like a kid. The last one before I become COMPLETELY obsessed with college, financial aid, prom, and scholarships. The last one that will have the sun hit my innocent face. I won't be a kid any more after this summer. I'll be a senior, filling out applications, writing essays, and patrolling the halls of numerous colleges. Plus, I'll (hopefully) get my license at the end of the summer, another stepping stone in the direction of adult hood. And so, after 11:30 on June 17th, the summer will begin, my last summer as a kid. And that's where this blog comes in.

Don't think I forgot to address you, my hopeful viewers, about what I will convey through my blog entries. In this blog I'll be detailing what I do doing this summer. Now this wont be like a dumb old Twitter account(of which I don't even have. Who does? Aren't those for celebrities?). No, I'll keep it interesting. I'm going to a couple of places during the summer, PA, aroud my hometown, the beach, etc. So while I expect you'll all want to hear about my fabulous adventures, this blog will mainly be a diary for me about what I'm thinking and feeling this summer and school year. Oh yeah, did I mention I'm keeping this up until I graduate? :) SURPRISE!! Since my classes will be a lot easier this summer, I'll have time to think and write, not only on my Blog but my story too. I plan on writing a novel over the course of one year, a novel I've been trying to start for the past year. So expect to see some of that too! I know it's possible that I won't get that many followers, but I hope that I will.

So, get ready for a ride, one that might not be crazy or dangerous or exhilirating but just interesting. :)
